Last weekend, my band played the Free Press Summer Festival in Houston. I got to meet Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes, and I must say, I was so impressed. She was personable, polite, and her performance was solid. She makes me want to go home and practice.

Print Job – A Collection of Music Photography by Mark C. Austin to Open May 31st at The Record Ranch Gallery, located inside Cactus Music

Houston photographer, Mark C. Austin, to exhibit images from extensive work shooting live performances at clubs, theaters, arenas and festivals.

HOUSTON – Get a front-row and on-stage perspective on popular music’s most celebrated performers with Print Job – A Collection of Music Photography by Mark C. Austin, an exhibition to open at The Record Ranch Gallery inside Cactus Music, 2110 Portsmouth, on Friday, May 31st. The exhibit features unique images at live music venues around the country. Images include everything from Willie to Sir Paul to St. Vincent. In “Print Job”, Austin shares some of the more unique captures of the last two years of his escapades.

“Some might call my desire to capture these live music moments an obsession. I’d agree. Its an obsession that I take pride in. For me, its more than just the experience of being there, its grabbing a little piece of that show and taking it home.” - Mark C. Austin

A reception with the photographer, which is open to the public, will be held from 6 – 9 p.m. on Friday, May 31st. There will be a live DJ session with Craig Hlavaty. Refreshments will be provided by The St. Arnold Brewing Company.

The exhibition is free and runs through July 2013.

About Mark C. Austin:
Mark C. Austin is a 30-something year old photographer and recovering accountant living and working in the city of Houston. His camera and undying love for live music have taken him on adventures that include dozens of music festivals across North America with the results ending up on the pages of SPIN, Rolling Stone, Paste and in permanent exhibits on the walls of the Hard Rock Cafe and Warehouse Live.

We are pleased to announce that June 20th,2013, we will have in hand copies of the 7 inch to sell at our Discovery Green concert. The show is 100% free and will be all ages. Chase Hamblin and The Roustabouts open the show at 6:30pm. Big thanks to Ashley ward of DrawComicDesign for handling the design and layout of the record.
